Carl Sanders of Brownwood was killed in action in Germany on February 25, as reported by the War Department to his wife Miss Jackie Huffman of Hasse. He had been overseas since October 1944 and was in Germany only a short time. His parents live in Barnhart. he leaves nine brothers and sisters. Mrs. Sanders is staying with her mother, Mrs. C. E. Huffman of Hasse.

Fox Hunters Set Spring Meeting and Barbecue at Round Mountain
The Comanche County Fox Hunters Association will hold its annual spring meeting and barbecue Friday March 30 at Round Mountain. The group, organized last year, has 275 members. last fall about 500 attended the hunt. The beach show starts at 2 pm with 30 to 50 dogs entered. Lewis Ackers of Abilene will judge. Barbecue midday and supper will feature bread coffee and pickles. ladies are asked to bring pies and cakes. The young organization also donated $62 to the Comanche County Red Cross drive.

The Presbyterian congregation forms a fundraising committee to build or move a manse for a resident pastor. The Rauhut children donate a lot beside the church, with $1900 already raised for building. The church has not owned a manse since its current building.

Funeral Rites At Stag Creek For Will Courtney
Will Courtney 69 formerly of Comanche County died Saturday in Los Angeles after a short illness. Funeral services are today at Stag Creek Cemetery. Born August 8 1876 in Comanche County he lived there over forty years then moved to El Paso and later to Los Angeles. He married Lillian Fielder of Sidney in 1896. survived by his wife and three daughters all in California.

M H Waldon Dies At 68 In Goldthwaite
M H Waldon 68 owner of the Comanche Courts on Highway 67 East died of a heart attack while working on the grounds Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held in Goldthwaite on Wednesday. He is survived by his widow and four daughters. Waldon purchased the Comanche Courts about a year ago.

McMillan Plans Quick Reopen of West Conoco Station
Fire on the Brownwood Highway damaged the West Conoco Station owned by C. C. Fisher. H. R. McMillan, rebuilding the structure and reopening soon. McMillan suffered burns while fighting the blaze and received medical attention. First Lieutenant Jack Brightman arrived in Comanche after nearly two years overseas in the Southwest Pacific. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Cluster, and wore four campaign insignia for New Guinea, Dutch East Indies, and the Philippines. Lt Victor Gore Scores First Aerial Victory Over German Airdrome
Lt Victor R L Gore of the 355th Fighter Group in England destroyed one enemy aircraft on the ground and damaged five others during a low level strafing run on a German airfield near Munich. His unit claimed twelve planes destroyed on the ground and at least nineteen damaged in the operation. Gore, son of Mr and Mrs W H Gore of Comanche and Cameron, is a 1940 Comanche High School graduate who earned his wings in 1944 and has been promoted to first lieutenant.
