Mrs Chilton Hosts Saturday Bridge Tea Event

Mrs John Chilton entertained Saturday afternoon with four bridge tables and tea guests. Honorees included Mrs John Griffee of Washington DC and Mrs R R Reid of Harlingen plus Mrs F T Smalling of Pampa, with out of town guests from Minneapolis Amarillo Fort Worth Lubbock Waco and Alice. High score went to Mrs C B Baxter and prize to tea guests chosen by Mrs C P St Clair.

Kilpatrick Leaves Comanche for Stephenville Business Venture

J. R. Kilpatrick, longtime Comanche bandmaster and high school music instructor, leaves to enter business in Stephenville after purchasing White's Auto Supply Store. He, Mrs. Kilpatrick, and their children plan to move this week. Kilpatrick came to Comanche a year ago from Mart, where he led the Mart High School band for two years.

Sunshine Club Meeting With Mrs Clarke

The Alice Russell Sunshine Club will meet with Mrs. George S. Clarke next Tuesday at 9 30 AM for a quilting day. Fourteen members attended the previous week and a luncheon was served. At 3 PM a business session elected Mrs E G Wells secretary. other officers include Mrs Wollie Jackson president Mrs F L Little vice president Mrs Belle Dudley teacher Mrs L C Cleveland treasurer and Mrs R L Scott reporter.

Mr and Mrs D Charles Clarke visited the Doc St Clair summer home near Granbury on Sunday where they joined Hugh Clarke and family of Dallas and Mrs Judith Johnson of Fort Worth for an outing.

Helen Mohon Named Mrs Arden Lewis Band Sponsor

Helen Mohon daughter of Mr and Mrs Grady Mohon of Comyn and niece of Mrs Bill Dudney of Comanche was elected Band Sponsor of the John Tarleton College Band for the 1942 43 term. Mrs Arden Lewis accompanied on piano by Miss Louise Mercer performed three vocal solos at the Lions Club luncheon.

Large crowd attends American Legion meeting at Lake Eanes

A large crowd attended a Saturday night American Legion meeting at Lake Eanes with good food and talks. Mrs. Lewis formerly Marion Lucille Donaho, a noted schoolgirl singer, appeared in public while a student and continued singing at Tarleton College and in church choirs after marriage. She is visiting her parents as Captain Lewis is temporarily in Washington, D C. Mrs. E T Howell and three daughters visit their sister Mrs. Vasco Lee and their mother Mrs. Effie Reeves, with Mrs. Rex Kitchen of Austin also present.

Cleve Denny Nets Six and Three Fourth Pound Bass

Cleve Denny aged sixteen son of Mr and Mrs Harold Denny of Comanche caught a six and three quarters pound bass at Lake Eanes on Sunday afternoon. The fish is the largest bass reported from the Comanche lake this season.

Garland Bear son of Mr and Mrs W E Bear of Comanche will depart Dallas for Boston to join the U S Maritime Service as a radio operator. He will attend school for months before going to sea.

Miss Drapon Ritchie Undergoes Appendectomy

Miss Drapon Ritchie secretary of the Comanche County Rural Electrification Association underwent an operation after an attack of appendicitis Saturday afternoon. She is reported recovering and has left the hospital. Joe Evridge of Camp Hood Killen spent the weekend in Comanche with his parents.
