The Story of Snaky Jackson Doodlebugger in Early Days
A Dallas News reminiscence by Dr. Hill recounts Snaky Jackson a Comanche County doodlebugger and con artist who posed as a clairvoyant, led a circus of unreliable healers, and sparked a Christmas Eve controversy ending in a mob rumor of murder and a failed hanging. The tale blends frontier humor with satire of fortune tellers and frontier law.
