The State Highway Commission will let 3.9 miles of grading and drainage on Highway 10 from the Comanche county line to Dublin June 22. Also up for bid are 9.6 miles of concrete paving on Highway 10 in Tarrant County and 17.4 miles of grading and drainage on Highway 67 in Erath County. The county cleared right of way on Highway 10 from Dublin to the Comanche line, final parcel paid and deed recorded, with 100 foot width specifications.

The county board and German authorities have approved grouping changes. a one year transfer of 35 pupils to De Leon was decided to test the plan. L R Higginbotham will join De Leon as teacher.
H. Bud Bishop purchased the Moody Market from Joe Moody on the South Side of the Square and took charge Monday. He will be assisted by his son Buster and has years of previous market experience in Comanche.
Rev. Davis D D will serve as supply pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Comanche. He will preach every third and first Sunday morning and evening. Davis, based in San Angelo, heads mission work for the Presbytery per Elder D Charles Clarke.
The Tasty Food Products Company of Brownwood intends to buy shelled and snap black eyed peas once volume justifies truck shipments to Comanche. Manager P C Barnes seeks stringless green pod beans for canning and under sized Irish potatoes, paying seventy five to one hundred cents a pound for graded undersized potatoes. He plans to ship when pea volume allows, with prices set at six cents per pound for shelled peas.
Two cars of wool left Comanche Monday via the Co operative Association bound for Boston after an advance of 15 to 15 cents. Two more cars departed Thursday bringing the local warehouse total to eight cars by train with an estimated two more by truck. The shipment totals about 000,000 pounds and is described as the largest spring clip ever received at Comanche.
The City of Comanche announces Lake Banes Lake Eanes as a free public recreation area with electric lights water access seating cooking pits swimming pools including a kiddie area and sand beach. A small fishing fee applies. N N Durham Park Committee chair invites all Comanche County residents to gatherings and picnics at the park.
The notice states prices at two cents per pound for nunsnapped peas and sets a 90 to 100 ratio requiring 90 pounds of snapping peas for every 100 pounds shelled to suit cannery needs. Mr Barnes will cut the snap peas this year and cannot use previously enacted rules.
Mrs. Fred Stokes age 54 of Sipe Springs was found dead in her living room Tuesday noon by her 12 year old son Perry. A small calibre rifle with exploded shell lay nearby and a note was written by the deceased. Her husband died eight years ago and several children survive. Funeral was held at Oakland Cemetery Wednesday.
Threshers and combines started harvest of a likely record grain crop in Comanche County with many operators listed across the area. Officials reported high oat yields up to seventy five bushels per acre and uniform improvement with little failure except for a hail damaged strip. First oats sold for 18 cents at Brightman Warehouse after a 17 cent opening. first large oat shipment sent Tuesday by Higginbotham Bros.
