Texas proposes amendment to Section 9 of Article 8

The measure allows the Commissioners Court in counties to reallocate county tax levies among purposes under Section 9 but capped at 80 cents per $100 valuation per year. Such reallocations require voter approval in a general or special election and would stay in effect six years unless renewed by voters. The amendment also authorizes a possible extra ad valorem tax for roads with voter approval and outlines election procedures and funding.
