J W Baggett longtime Comanche County pioneer dies after coal oil mishap at home near Lamkin reports by Mrs W L Hamilton. Uncle Bill Baggett suffered severe burns when coal oil ignited. his wife saved him with water, he died July 10 at Stephenville Hospital. Services held Tuesday at Siloam Cemetery. he leaves widow and four children. Baggett married Mary Hester Onstott in 1880 near Wilson. After early pioneer life he survived multiple Indian encounters and escapes.

Dr. George William Holmsley of Comanche County died at his daughter Mrs. Charlie Hicks home in Newburg after illness. Funeral at South Leon Baptist Church Newbury conducted by Rev. E. N. Strother. Interment in Albin Cemetery. Survived by children Perry Ozona Larry Hicks Lewis all of Comanche with ten grandchildren. a son George Helmsley predeceased. He practiced in Ozona and Sonora before moving to ranching near Newburg on a 1500 acre farm. He attended the University of Texas Medical College Galveston and earned his M D. He was married to Hattie Hoover, who died about a year ago.

Thirty Five Comanche Scouts Headed for Camp Billie Gibbons
Thirty five Boy Scouts from Comanche rode to Camp Billie Gibbons on July 9 for two weeks of hiking swimming and camping at Brady Creek and the San Saba River.
