Comanche County Urges Vote Saturday July 22

County Chairman R L Lane of the Democratic Executive Committee asks about 5000 qualified voters in Comanche County to cast ballots Saturday July 22 for the party offices. He thanks election officials and candidates, notes poll tax rules for those age 60 and older, and reminds voters that electioneering near polls is prohibited.

The Comanche County Livestock Association schedules its annual membership meeting and barbecue for Friday August 11 at Lake Banes ark. School Transfers During July Announced by Official

Announcement from the county superintendent sets July transfer cutoff at 3 percent yearly. Transfers needed for many pupils due to various reasons. the county board issues the transfer action under state law guiding the county board.

Statewide Paper Drive Scheduled in Comanche County

Sol Hoffman, newly named chairman of the waste paper program in Comanche County, announces a state wide paper drive set for Aug 4 and 5. The Boy Scouts of Comanche will assist on those two days, Friday and Saturday, and Hoffman will load the seventh car of paper from Comanche at the same time.

Revival Opens Tonight at Victory Baptist Church

The Rev S Stover a foreign missionary recently back from Brazil will start a ten day revival tonight July 21 at Victory Baptist Church in Comanche Texas. He plans to resume missionary work abroad after the meeting which runs through July 30 with inviting messages.

Three Carruth Brothers Serving in Nation's Armed Forces

From Route 2 the Carruth brothers are identified in a military photo. Jack W. Carruth has served two years and is stationed in Ireland. Johnnie F. Carruth has four years of service and was stationed in England.

Marvin Jones Reported Missing In Action In France

Sergeant Marvin L. Jones, 21, of Comanche Route 3, son of Mr and Mrs J T Jones, reported missing since June 6 in France. He has served eighteen months and was overseas about ten months. The War Department telegram expresses deep regret and promises prompt notice if further details arrive.

A C Thomas Attends Texas Power Reserve Meeting

A C Thomas superintendent of the Comanche REA and W S Price Jr president of the board attended the annual Texas Power Reserve meeting in Austin this week. Both participated actively. A full report will appear next week in The Chief. George Haggard of Gustine has been appointed editor of the newly established paper published by the Texas Power Reserve at Austin.

Miss Frances Durham Receives University of Texas Degree

Miss Frances Evelyn Durham daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter M Durham of Comanche earned a Bachelor of Music at the University of Texas commencement. A former piano recital performer and Baylor two year alumna she joined Alpha Delta Phi at UT and now visits her parents in Comanche.

Precinct Conventions Set For July 22 At 2 P M

County Chairman R L Lane notes Democratic Precinct Conventions at every voting box Saturday July 22 at 2 PM to elect delegates to the County Democratic Convention. The county meets at the courthouse in Comanche to pick delegates to the State Convention in Dallas in September. Contests may arise from a split in the State Convention after the Austin meeting, though most county delegates favor Roosevelt.

Home On Furlough T/Set Bob Waldrop Fifteenth Air Force

Bob Waldrop of the Fifteenth Air Force has spent days at home with his parents in Santa Monica after flying fifty missions on a B-17 bomber. He plans US reassignment after rest. Waldrop earned the Oak Leaf Cluster and multiple medals for valor and shot down two planes on a single raid. He served as gunner pilot bombardier navigator and radioman and recalls a bomber shot down linked to a pilot he trained with.

County Wins Bond Rally Hits Quota Yet Short on E Bond

County War Finance Chairman E S Fagan reported more than 16 000 in War Bonds sold at a rally boosting the total to 464 890 75 toward a 460 000 overall goal. The E Bond quota remains 11 381 25 short and must be raised by August 1 with purchases this month counting.

Rev B B Huckabay pastor of the First Baptist Church at Throckmorton will open a ten day revival at the First Baptist Church in Custine starting Sunday morning. The meeting runs through Tuesday evening August 1 with services twice daily and Roland Miller in charge of singing.
