In 1856 Comanche County organized and F A Thompson with James E Bouldin offered 80 acres on a Murrah survey for a county seat. The deed dated April 15 1857 records the transfer. The site near South Leon later became the town of Cora, the county's first seat.

He worked two years as bookkeeper for Dublin Compress before the firm sold to Frances Brothers and moved to Arkansas. he then joined Brownwood bank as bookkeeper.

Two Highway Contracts Awarded in Comanche County
Two highway projects were let in Comanche County on Tuesday. Jenson Construction Company of Austin received a $19,644.49 contract for a feeder highway bridge over Sabana Creek 3.7 miles west of De Leon. A second bid of $54,000.00 was awarded for grading drainage and structures on 4.7 miles of Highway 36 east from Gustine. State Highway Commissioner Harry Hines announced plans to complete the west segment of Highway 36 from Comanche and a 6.3 mile segment from Sweetwater Creek to the Sidney Sipe Springs road, with $50,000 allotted for grading drainage and structures.

Court Votes To Build A New Jail At De Leon
Comanche County Commissioners Court voted to build a jail at De Leon and appropriated 750 dollars funded by a WPA grant matching the amount. REA Contract Bids Set for Comanche Eastland Lines
Comanche County Electric Cooperative Association will open bids Friday January 27 at 10 a.m. for reconstructing 250 miles of electric lines in Comanche and Eastland counties. A. C.
