Hog Cholera Outbreak Warnings For Local Farmers

A confirmed hog cholera case is reported in the county with several other acute losses and signs of disease. Farmers are urged to protect herds in coming weeks by careful vaccination decisions and by alerting neighbors to suspected outbreaks to prevent spread.

Local Army recruiting office reports six more enlistees

The U S Army Recruiting Office at 109 East Baker Street Brownwood announced six more men, including three from Comanche, were sent to Dallas for Regular Army enlistment. Billy Joe Clements of Route 2 Comanche enlisted for three years and was assigned to the Army Air Forces on 21 December. Bobby Gale Burk of Comanche was also accepted for a three year Regular Army enlistment on 28 December in the Signal Corps.

Delbert Kirkland Returns Home From Overseas

Corporal Delbert Kirkland has completed over a year overseas and arrived home at Camp Fannin Tyler for discharge under the Army point system. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Frank Kirkland and was employed by the Express Company before enlisting. Zinc is a metallic ore commonly associated with lead.

Harold Gene Spivey Enlists for Three Years in Signal Service

Harold Gene Spivey of Comanche enlisted for three years in the Regular Army. He was accepted on 28 December and chose service with the Signal Corps as his branch of duty.
