A surprise announcement at a Wednesday tea revealed the near marriage of Miss Geraldine Slider to Mr Woodrow Allen. The event featured tinseled valentines invitations, a red and white motif, a receiving line, a miniature wedding party, and a choral entertainment segment.

Mrs. Jodie Smith Claimed By Death

Mrs. Jodie Smith 51 of Comanche died Monday at 12 45 after a year long illness at the German sanitarium Funeral services were held at the family home in Comanche with Reverends Barrett and Steel officiating Interment was in Rock Church Cemetery She was born Cora Belle Edwards December 29 1889 married Dec 20 1909 to Jodie Smith They had three sons Dry Aubry J D Garland Phifer and three grandchildren Surviving a sister Mrs Roy Rains and four brothers Bob Roscoe Jess and Artie Edwards all of Comanche She joined First Baptist Church in youth.

Methodists Attend Rising Star Meeting at First Church

At the First Methodist Church in Rising Star a bi-district Institute on Missions and Evangelism was held Tuesday February 4. The program was described as inspirational spiritual and educational with Rev E R Gordon and several Comanche attendees among those present including Mrs Troy Marshall Mrs B G Combs and Mrs Paul Jeanes.

Indians and US judge murdered near Austin in 1841

A Texas Sentinel report notes five Towaccanny believed Indians killed on Webber's prairie twelve miles below Austin. Citizens pursue a second party in the same neighborhood. It also states James W. Smith former Travis County chief justice was murdered about January 22, with his ten year old son possibly carried into captivity by four Towaccanny Indians.

Miss Peggie Durham Undergoes Operation

Miss Peggie Durham daughter of Mr and Mrs N N Durham and senior honor student at Comanche High School was stricken with appendicitis and taken to Medical Arts Hospital at Brownwood where she underwent an operation Friday. She is reported as doing nicely and was able to be brought home.

Mr and Mrs Bob Land of Abilene spent Monday in Comanche. He a former Abilene policeman lived in Comanche for years after 1900. He says Comanche has improved while he was away. Mrs Land is daughter of Uncle Tom Hendricks.
