Albert Schwartz Dies at 23 After Illness
Albert Schwartz a 23 year old Comanche business man died in a Temple sanitarium after months of poor health. Funeral services were held at his mother’s home in Priddy and at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy. Interment was at St John’s Cemetery Priddy. He was born near Priddy October 30 1917 and later worked as Magnolia Petroleum agent. He married Dorothy Gray September 16 1939 and is survived by his widow mother and eight siblings.

Murder Charge Filed In Fatal Highway Crash
A murder charge was filed in Justice F A Loudermilk's court against J E Shorty McCain for a collision on U S Highway 283 north of Brownwood that fatally injured Beatrice Calhoun, 24, and injured four others including Ira Calhoun, Herman Byrd, and Mrs Bill Sutton. Aubrey Wilhelm of Comanche captured the district middleweight title with a third round technical knockout, advancing to Fort Worth for a third straight national run. Ira Collins, formerly of Comanche and 1938 TAAF champion, won the district heavyweight crown by decision over Bob Ritchie. Both boxers, along with six Brownwood district contestants, head to Fort Worth as the State Golden Gloves meet begins Thursday and runs through Monday.
