Slider and Lacy Company to Move Stores in Comanche Building

The Slider and Lacy Company plans to relocate stock to the north side of the square occupying the former Cash Store building. The move follows long local mercantile histories including W R Slider with 37 years in commerce and H R Lacy who began in 1894 in Sidney.

Ford Sales Station draws crowd with new car in Comanche

Over five thousand came Friday and Saturday to inspect Ford's latest model at the Ford Sales Station in Comanche. Hart Shoemaker and H. G. Mustard of the Dallas Ford Sales Department toured the area with Mackey Shoemaker and Jones, explaining features and demonstrating workings before taking the car to Goldwaithe on Monday.

Fireworks ban on public square area enforced

Notice states it is illegal to shoot fireworks or explosives on the Comanche public square or within a block of it. City Marshall W. A. Pate signs the notice and the rule is enforced by law. J. P Bogart of John Tarleton College visits his grandparents, Mr and Mrs J P Lee.

Record Turkey Pen Sets County Daylight Benchmark

Five thousand turkeys were held in a single pen by W. W. Nance Produce Co at De Leon on Saturday December 10 marking a county record. The unit valued near $25 000 equals over 250 bales of cotton and signals diversification aiding Comanche County prosperity.

Sidney Community Runs Strong in School Attendance Survey

A community club survey of 66 families in Sidney shows nearly all children aged 7 to 16 attend school. Results reveal high farm activity with many households owning land, maintaining year round dairy, meat, and garden products, and strong financial habits including bank accounts and orchard ownership.

Two Men Die in Suiden Deaths

Two men, Jase H. Kelley a 33 year old prominent lawyer, and Ruthledge Sliger 52, died suddenly in Comanche County after feeling ill while working. Kelley, of Rising Star, collapsed at Siper Springs Monday afternoon and was taken to Dallas for burial. Sliger, a Shiloh area pioneer, died at his wood pasture with his nephew Jeff Sliger nearby. his funeral was led by Rev. J D Smoot and Rev J L Ray at Indian Creek. He leaves a large family and several siblings.
