Weeks of heavy rain cripple roads in the southern part of the county with highways damaged. Stores will close on Monday December 26 to allow merchants and employees an uninterrupted Christmas holiday.

Registration of Gard starts January 1 1928. No automobile licenses for 1928 will be accepted until then. Licenses must be paid in January and those traveling outside the county in January must pay before leaving Comanche County. Cars cannot be driven in or out after February 1 without a 1928 license. Licenses must be obtained in the county of residence for the first time. New law retains 30 percent of weight and horsepower fees for local highways.

Thieves forced entry Friday night at Joe's Garage in Comanche stealing thirteen casings and some cash from the register. Early Saturday morning Bailey Produce Co nearby may have remained open after 4 am. Virgil Carter's Garage in Proctor reported a gasoline theft. A Chevrolet Coach was stolen in Stephenville the same night, per Erath County Sheriff communications.
Romeo S. Walker county superintendent calls attention to January 15 as the last day for schools to pay general membership dues for the Interscholastic League and to sign acceptance for the one act play contests. The last day for basketball entry fees with no penalty was December 15, with penalties until January 15. A special basketball fee must be paid before January 16 for those entering the county tournament.
Comariches County’s turkey crop this year reaches about four hundred birds for R T Jaynes of Sidney. His flock, raised with Mrs. Jaynes and two sons, weighs about 35 pounds per bird on average, with select toms up to 47 pounds. The operation uses 100 acres for range on a 240 acre farm, feeding on peanuts maize peas rape and other crops. Eggs are incubated or brooded, and the flock is kept in pens with careful care for weeks after hatching. The Jays sold culls for $1,117 with a premium, and plan breeding stock from 125 select hens ahead of future seasons.
Heavy rains brought smiles to farmers and saved grain facing danger from a freeze. With a good season ahead, land turning and planting for next year will begin once soil dries. Nearly an inch and a half fell in Comanche, heavier elsewhere, flooding tanks and damaging roads and culverts on the Comanche Hamilton and Pecan Belt highways.

Free Will Baptist Church offers a Christmas tree on Saturday. Zion Hill Baptist plans all day services with gifts for children. Dingler features a village tree and school program on December 23. Beattie assembles a Christmas Eve program at the new Community Auditorium with school children leading.
