Mr and Mrs W B Kearney marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at their home. Married in a log cabin near Hinson Creek Coryell County they raised 12 children and now have 30 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The event featured a gold themed noon feast, a gold wedding cake, and $50 in gold given by their children. Relatives and friends sent telegrams due to severe cold.
For nearly sixty years the Comanche Chief expresses gratitude to its readers for loyalty and friendship. The message wishes a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year from The Comanche Chief to its loyal followers.
Postmaster M. J. Sullivan plays Santa this week delivering packages received at the office around the square to relieve Christmas rush congestion. Businessmen appreciate the volunteer service.
Old Star football players from Comanche High will meet De Leon High on Monday December 26 in a gridiron clash. Referee Daniel Baker Shorty Ransome will start the game at 3 o'clock to benefit the Comanche C Club and the De Leon D Club. In a separate incident a gunman attempted to break into Star Filling Station No 2 near Bart Johnson's, fleeing in a red truck after a gunshot damaged the door. sheriff's deputies pursue leads to arrest with police investigating a prior burglary at the station.
The following officers for Comanche Encampment No 34 of the Y O O F have been selected for the ensuing year. J W Hawkins Chief Patriarch.
M. S. Elms serves as Senior Warden while J. H. Lewis is High Priest and W. D. Carrol acts as Scribe with Bob Graham as Treasurer in the lodge's official record.
Mr Vineyard announces the I M Maude Vineyard Grocery will relocate into the Coleman building on the north side of the square. He has run his own Comanche business for two years after ten years heading the Cash Store grocery department and prior farming in Sweetwater.
Comanche Business College opens Tuesday January third offering complete courses in shorthand typing and bookkeeping for prospective students. Call the Comanche Chief for information.
A playful Christmas verse by Viola C contemplates a glittering tree. The narrator muses on poems and trees, the joy of children around the tree, and the wish that a sapling planted long ago will grow into a future sparkling tree for gifts and delight.
D C Bailey buys the XL Wagon Yard on North Main Street west and plans to convert the old wagon yard into turkey picking and dressing quarters. He will fence the lot and use sheds as turkey pens to建立 one of the largest poultry operations in Central West Texas capable of handling at least 000 turkeys daily. Bailey expects Comanche County's turkey crop to surpass half a million this year and grow to over a million next year. He notes better prospects for Comanche and the region with diversification into turkeys and cream.
The pony corner live oak on the square is festooned by the Chamber of Commerce led by Miss Jeffie Thomas and Mrs Ernest Rock to convey Christmas spirit with colorful decorations. No gifts will be placed on the tree as the aim is festive color, not presents.
Miss Dale Williams plans a visit with etee and Mrs James to Shamrock City as part of a local social engagement.

Carl Roberts asserts six good Jersey cows yield more annual profit than a cotton crop after selling 774 worth of sour cream and calves from six cows. The Roberta and Minnie Roberts started dairy in 1921, reaching profits of 313.79 from four cows, then over 900 from nine cows in 1923, with steady cream sales supporting their household expenses.
