Farmers seek drought disaster declaration to aid livestock feed
County officials and 18 West Texas counties met to urge Governor Shivers to request President Truman declare Texas a drought disaster area. They seek disaster loan funds at favorable rates to help farmers, ranchers, and stockmen buy feed as crops suffer massive losses across cotton sorghum grain and rice. Local attendees include Robert C. Toon of Comanche County and Agriculture Commissioner John C. White with others from the Farmers Home Administration and PMA.
