In Comanche County a sharp county run off produced two new county officials and the first non-incumbent sheriff in 64 years. Wayne M Swindle defeated Sheriff Gaston Boykin by 423 votes to secure the district clerk nomination. Tom Moore led early in the district clerk race before final tallies, while Oral D Morris won the precinct commissioner post. Braziel captured the justice of peace seat with a large margin. Six Bales Of Cotton Ginned At Comanche
Six bales of cotton were ginned at the Rauhut Gin in Comanche up to Thursday morning. The first bale arrived Thursday August 31 brought by Albert Schumann of Priddy. Cotton from 15 acres weighed 450 pounds lint and sold for 38 cents a pound totaling 201 dollars. Schumann received a 25 dollar premium from the Comanche Chamber of Commerce and Rauhut ginned the bale free. Other farmers sending cotton were Gene Biggs Carl Hall and A A Lam.

Dale Helmsley allowed two hits as Newburg jumped to a 3-run first inning behind Billy Carpenter’s mound work. Charley Carnes’s squad earlier forced a 2-2 series tie with a 4-2 win, but the title went to Newburg on Tuesday night.
