Louis E Pierson Dies at Hamilton

Louis E. Pierson 78 longtime Hamilton County resident died at his home August 5 after a three year illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 4 p.m. at the First Methodist Church with Rev. B R Manksted and Rev J E Buttrill officiating. He was born January 30 1867 in Norway and came to America at six. Survived by eleven children, nine with their mother, plus fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Morris Harkins Promoted in Philippines Policein

Morris F. Harkins, husband of Mrs. Jane M. Harkins of Comanche, has been promoted to private first class while serving as a medical technician with the 120th General Hospital in Manila. He joined Camp Van Dorn unit in January 1944 and served in New Guinea before the Philippines. The hospital operates in the University of Santo Tomas classrooms after being a Japanese camp for American internees.

Pierson Remembered as Respected Hamilton County Rancher

Mr Pierson was a member of the Lutheran Church confirmed at fifteen. He lived on his ranch in Hamilton County for more than forty years and was one of the county's most highly respected citizens.

Home From Hawaii Cpl Lloyd Guthrie Visits Family

Cpl. Lloyd R. Guthrie arrived home last week for a 45 day furlough with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Odis Guthrie. An ex Comanche High School student he has been stationed in the Hawaiian Islands for 40 months and is home for the first time during that period. He says it’s good to be back.

Lt. Billy J. Gregory 21 of Comanche promoted from 2nd lieutenant to 1st lieutenant at an 8th Air Force B 17 Flying Fortress station in England. Navigator on Fort with Col. Chester C. Cox's 338th Bomb Group engaging German targets with Allied ground forces. Son of Rev. and Mrs. E G Gregory Jr of Comanche. Howard Payne College alumnus before joining the AAF.

Sergeant Callison Awarded Bronze Star for Italy Campaign

Staff Sergeant Robert A. Callison of Comanche received the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat during the Italian campaign with Company M, 349th Krautkiller Regiment, 88th Blue Devil Division on the Fifth Army front. His mother, Mrs. Mary E. Callison, resides on Route 2, Comanche.
