Comanche High to meet for football plans Friday
Comanche High School boys football will meet in the CHS gym Friday evening at 7 oclock to plan a trip to Lake Brownwood next week. Superintendent Virgil Chaffin says all interested players may attend and will register for the fall semester. Coach John Dyer, stationed in Pennsylvania, is elected coach and should be released from the Army soon, with local captain Pug McMillan guiding the squad temporarily.

Work Under Way on New Blackwood Clinic and Hospital
Ground clearing has begun for the Blackwood Clinic and Hospital in Comanche. Construction starts within two weeks on a one story L shaped building costing 30 000 to 35 000 with 36 rooms and potential second floor. Completion is targeted for January 1 1946 under Tom Pate. Dr. E E Blackwood an established surgeon and physician who came to Comanche in 1944 will head the facility.

REA Annual Meeting Draws 600 At Lake Eanes Park
About 600 members and guests of Comanche County Electric Cooperative attended the annual membership meeting at Lake Eanes Park on August 18. Directors were re elected and remarks were given by Congressman Sam Russell State Representative Bill Chambers and REA president W S Price. The meeting featured a noon barbecue and prizes with members contributing salads desserts and other dishes. A brief summary of proposed Texas constitutional amendments to appear on the August 25, 1945 ballot followed.

Mrs. R. B. Waldrop hosted a chicken dinner at Ridgeway Hotel Sunday honoring her two sons in the Navy. Fane Waldrop served twenty four months with nine in the Pacific. Dale Waldrop has fifteen months in service and works in the Postal Department at the Naval Hospital in New Orleans.
