An advertisement touts BLACK-DRAUGHT as a vegetable laxative that acts gently yet thoroughly. A half teaspoonful on the tongue with water is said to ease constipation by morning, improving headaches, biliousness, sour stomach, and bad breath, with 25 to 40 doses priced at 26 cents.

June E. Cook, 17, granddaughter of Mrs. J. P. Cook of Comanche, was elected to the National Honor Society. She will graduate from Bryan High School in May after a strong scholastic record and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Cook, formerly of Comanche.
Mr and Mrs Henry Johnston and family express gratitude to friends neighbors and relatives for help and sympathy during 16 days in a Brownwood hospital for a crushed knee. They thank Zion Hill Baptist Church Durham Pe can and Peanut Plant workers Mr and Mrs Johnnie McNutt for care and gifts and their colleagues for favors. They send blessings and appreciation.
The Soward family expresses gratitude for friends support at E. Y. Soward's death. Dallas visitors J. C. Meyers and wife spent the weekend in Comanche with Gus and wife. Joe Marshall family visited son Tom Clyde at State Teachers College in San Marcos. Rev. E. M. Shepard attended Brownwood Presbytery in San Angelo and was elected Commissioner to the General Assembly in Montreal May 22 to 29. Mrs. Melvin Gore and Mrs. G. Preston Tate were Dallas visitors Monday.
Guthrie resumes work after a vacation while John H. Garrett recovers from a knee injury sustained en route to Houston for Easter. Visits span Waco, Brownwood, Fort Worth, Columbus, Sterling City, and Comanche as families gather with relatives and friends.
Rev Tom J Lassater former resident now of Mertzon and Mrs Lassater visit friends in Comanche last week. He is a retired Methodist pastor and evangelist once pastor at Brady and licensed in the 1880s at Farmers Chapel. Born in Mississippi during the Civil War his family fled Sherman’s march. his mother hid Confederate money under a cradle quilt to save it.
