The Waco Abilene Coache route via Comanche received State Highway Department approval. The line runs from Waco to Rising Star via Comanche and Abilene starting in May with westbound departures from Waco at 6 30 am and arrivals in Abilene around 11 59 am. Eastbound departures from Abilene at 12 50 pm reach Waco by 6 30 pm. The line serves towns including South Bosque McGregor Comanche Sidney Rising Star Pioneer Cross Plains Clyde and Abilene.

Murder suspect Brook returned to Comanche County jail
Clifford Brook alias Elroy Reid, 21, who escaped last December 30, was returned to Comanche County from Denver on suspicions tied to the murder indictment for J. D. Couch. He was captured in Denver April 2 on a car theft charge, extradited after a fingerprint match, and brought back after Denver authorities dismissed the theft case.

Comanche High School drama directed by Blanche Dabney captured three of six individual acting awards at the Region 2 One-Act Play Contest in Abilene, with Bill Black taking best boy actor for The Bishops Candlesticks. James Gill and Emma Louise McDonald earned third in their categories. San Angelo High led with two acting awards and top play. Comanche had previously won District 8 at Brownwood to reach the regional event.
