Seniors Praise Comanche High Sextette for Musical Honors

The 1939 Comanche High School seniors commend Miss Patty Ruth King and the Comanche High School Sextette for their standout singing. Five of six members are seniors, with a second-place finish at Abilene cited as a top state musical award. The group is active on programs, consistently high achieving, and always ready to fill in.

Lamkin and nearby residents visited relatives over the weekend in Blanket Dublin Hazel Dell Purves and Stephenville. At Brownwood district meet Alda Stevens won second in essay, John Weldon Stevens third in senior declamation, James Von White third in junior declamation. Lamkin debaters Billy Neel and Eargie Anderson defeated Lohn Mason County and Coleman before losing to Brownwood in finals.

Missionary Society Meeting at Morton's Chapel

The Woman's Missionary Society met Monday with Mrs. Leland Nabors hosting a social with games and refreshments. Visitors included Mrs. R. T. Armstrong and her Dublin-bound children. Sunday School and morning preaching were held, an Easter program and evening sermon followed, and Mrs. Adrian Ballard remains seriously ill in a German hospital.

Oil Test Drilled on Richardson Farm and Local Visits

Amity Imola Joe Hazel Maples has been involved in activity for several days. An oil test is now being made on the Richardson farm operated by 8S C Gregory. Mrs Hill of Cleburne and Mrs Rogers and family of Fort Worth visited Mr and Mrs S O Maples last week. An oil test is being drilled on Homer Smiths place. A singing and forty two party occurred at Clyde Smiths home. Layton McMillan Grady Alford and Hershall Anderson played on the May baseball team at Brownwood Saturday. Mrs Stryker and Mrs Adams visited Mrs Charley Bible Sunday.
