Chicago Mercantile Exchange closes show mixed activity across live cattle frozen pork bellies and live hogs. Notable quotes include Oct live cattle at 39.40 and Feb contracts around 41.10 for live cattle while frozen pork bellies trade at 58.50 to 65.05 with near term bids.

Lincoln police questioned a Topeka transient linked to the deaths of Jon Simpson and Jacob Lurber at the Nebraska State Fair last year. A decision on possible action was expected soon. the man is described as voluntarily cooperating.
Two Springfield men Robert White and David King were found competent to stand trial on conspiracy to murder charges in connection with an alleged plot against Senator Edward Kennedy. Sandra Rowdeau of Westfield faces related charges. Bail and recognizance details were provided as authorities note uncertainty about the plot’s existence.
