Glance at tax revision bill
Washington report outlines a compromise tax revision bill at a glance. It preserves existing individual and industry tax cuts through 1977 while raising the minimum tax. It tightens shelters in real estate farming oil and gas and other sectors and expands or introduces breaks for child care alimony moving expenses and prepaid legal services while trimming sick pay exclusions. Estate and gift taxes are lowered over five years and capital gains rules tighten with longer holding periods. The investment credit becomes permanent with extra credits for employee stock ownership plans.
