House GOP outlines plan to reform Social Security

The GOP proposes a 70 year reform including delaying automatic benefit increases, raising full retirement age to 82 in stages, adding 1.25 percent payroll tax, and bringing all federal workers into Social Security. The plan cuts earnings indexing, shifts funds to the Social Security trust, ends the earnings test by 1980, and expands benefits for women with a working spouse and remarriage provisions.

AlaskaCanadian gas line cost plan outlined by Schlesinger

Energy Secretary James Schlesinger presented a joint US Canada gas pipeline plan linked to the Carter Trudeau agreement. Senate clears 459.9 billion federal budget for 1978

Opera Opening Goes On After Downtown Bomb Blast
