Tax revenue trends show slower sales growth and slipped income tax

Home building pace quickens in Columbus this year

Barnum Ranch and the Barnum Family Legacy Near Columbus
A Platte County historical note recalls Barnum Ranch a mile southwest of Columbus once a wagon trail rest stop on the old Military Road. Guy Barnum, born in Vermont, settled there in 1861, became a prominent livestock raiser, laid out Aveola townsite, and served in the Nebraska Legislature in 1866, the Senate in 1879, and as Platte County commissioner in 1870.
