Mr and Mrs Hooshang Tavaneipour depart for Tehran after a day and a half in Munich. Tavaneipour, a University of Nebraska civil engineer graduate, will join Iranian Oil Company. she plans to teach English in Iran.
Eric Sloth has completed enrollment at the University of Wisconsin Madison with a Naval ROTC nutrition major after transferring from Nebraska Lincoln to UNO where she enrolled last week. Another sister Lauri heads to Ames Iowa to enroll at Iowa State University as a pre veterinary medicine track.
Karen Brunken daughter of Mr and Mrs Wallace Brunken starts fall semester at the University of Nebraska Lincoln in Arts and Sciences. Deb Schreiber daughter of Ron Schreiber begins pre nursing studies at UNL this fall.

The Rev William Eller of Laguna Hills California a Leigh native will present a Holy Land slide show at the Old Settlers Picnic to be held Sept 11 at the 4-H building Colfax County Fairgrounds. He and Mrs Eller were hosts with Dr James Kallas of California Lutheran College for a 46 tourist group. Each family should bring one dish for pot luck. refreshments and table service provided. In Columbus and nearby towns, patients include Mrs. Charles Gabel and Mrs. Bernard Mikelson among others, with several named residents under care and several discharged. Boone County records a birth from Mr. and Mrs. David Primrose of Primrose on August 27.
Coaches Jed Rood Jim Puetz and Don Schmidt spoke to Sertoma Club about Columbus High Scotus and Lakeview seasons. Rood and Puetz look for speed and quickness while Schmidt expects a small rotation with three returning starters and larger sophomore classes ahead.
