McGovern Faults 1972 Mistakes At Ames Jefferson Dinner
MAR ALLEN United Press International reports George McGovern faulted his 1972 campaign missteps at a Jefferson Jackson Day tribute in Ames Iowa. He warned candidates toward nonissues and urged accountability while noting his own past errors could not excuse empty politics ahead of 1976. He also commented on Ford Reagan Wallace Udall Bayh Carter and others in a crowded Democratic field. McGovern said he would not seek the 1976 nomination but did not rule it out.

When to turn stock into corn fields in Nebraska
In Nebraska farmers may recover grain from fields with ear drop by turning cattle into the stalks. Paul Guyer advises yearlings or two year olds, starting feed, to eat corn off the cob with ear corn or chopped ear corn first. Cattle need about 11/2 pounds protein daily. Rental rates for stalk pasture vary. guidance shifts from dollars per acre to per head per day, influenced by hay prices. An uptick in per acre rents may be justified in heavy ear drop years.
