UPI reports U S and British embassies urge nonessential nationals to leave Lebanon amid renewed fighting between Muslim and Christian militiamen. Casualties mount in six weeks of combat, with about 800 killed and 2,000 wounded. nearly 7,000 total killed or injured since the conflict began.
Multiple traffic accidents were reported with two injuries in Schuyler and several damage claims. Susan Davis and others were injured or shocked in collisions at 8th Street and 33rd Avenue, plus a crash near Yard Street and 23rd Avenue caused $400 in vehicle damage. A motorcyclist struck a pedestrian, sending someone to Bethlen Community Hospital with a possible back injury. Additional incidents occurred on Highway 8 near 48th Avenue and various city intersections, all under police and sheriff investigation.
President Ford meets Egyptian President Anwar Sadat at the White House for a state visit focused on advancing a Middle East peace acceptable to all. Ford says the US will pursue a broad partnership with Middle East nations and supports the Sinai disengagement as a step toward lasting peace while noting gaps remain over Golan Heights, Palestinian questions, and wider Arab-Israeli ties.

Investigators seek the unidentified nurse driver, her car owners, and others who drove the same vehicle in the past 18 months. Fingerprints on a license plate tied Soliah and James Kilgore to SLA related crimes and a Carmichael bank robbery.
A 14 year old girl is being held by local authorities in connection with a Saturday stabbing of Leroy Prososki near Micek's Bar on 12th Street. Prososki was stabbed once and underwent surgery at Behlen Community Hospital. Platte County Attorney Ray Baker said the incident is under investigation and it is not yet determined whether the case will be prosecuted in juvenile or adult court.
More than 18 demonstrators gathered on the State Capitol steps in Lincoln to condemn a 2.1 million dollar reduction in state funding for community based programs serving the mentally retarded. They delivered petitions signed by over 12,000 people and criticized Governor Exon for absence during the protest and perceived indifference to the issue.

A coordinated bombing wave hit New York City, Washington and Chicago with five damaged buildings including banks and the U S mission to the United Nations. The National Liberation Armed Front claimed responsibility for the attacks stating a goal against Yankee governments and monopoly capitalism. No injuries were reported but security measures remained high as investigators combed downtown districts for additional devices.
