Town that grows overnight Gross Nebraska bears Bicentennial status

In Gross Nebraska the population unofficially surged 34.9 percent on Sunday as the village earned American Revolution Green Centennial status. The town, once a hopeful site for a railroad, now counts about 700 residents for the moment, with history noting a peak earlier this century and a stark decline since. Local residents humorously observed the unusual influx and the arrival of motorcycle cops to manage traffic.
