Daredevil Willig Dodges Lawsuit For World Trade Center Feat

George Willig known as the human fly avoided a $250 000 lawsuit by accepting a dinner at Windows on the World atop the World Trade Center. He was joined by a toy designer, Philippe Petit, his girlfriend Randy Zeidberg and Stanley Siegel. Mayor Beame announced the city would drop the case after a settlement of one dollar ten cents per story climbed.

Jaws Tool Aids Fire Rescue In Calf Truck Crash

Columbus fire chief credits The Jaws of Life with saving the driver from a May 2 Highway 40 crash. The rescue cost about 5 001 funded by Platte County Insurance Board, marking its first use. The new unit, costing about 27 000, replaces an older ambulance unit and enhances transport capacity.

NPPD grand jury probes payoffs to state senators

Lincoln Journal reports a federal grand jury in Omaha is examining allegations that Nebraska Public Power District personnel and lobbyists funneled money to political candidates dating back to 1963. No indictments have been returned. subpoenas cover board members and executives. The probe also reviewed a 1969s helicopter contract with State Senator Loran Schmit’s firm and related costs.

NRD approves watershed plan for region

Grand Island, Neb. The Central Platte Natural Resources District has approved a 440 million dollar watershed project along Silver Creek south of 0.5, near Silver Creek in Merrick County. Manager Won Bishop said the plan enables a federal money application and will substantially help area farmers with 400 to 500 thousand residents expected to benefit.
