Wheat crop outlook lowers 12 percent from last year
Officials project the 1975 wheat harvest at about 1.496 billion bushels based on May 1 conditions, a drop of 12 percent from 1974 due mainly to drought in the southwest. Despite losses, analysts cite multiple factors that suggest the final 1975 crop could still meet early expectations.
