Plan of attack on hunger agreed by World Food Council
The 36 nation World Food Council endorsed a plan to fight hunger including a $1 billion yearly agricultural fund and a three year target of 10 million tons of food aid per year. African and Latin American nations opposed moves to sack the secretariat and call a new meeting. John A. Hannah proclaimed the plan salvaged while nonaligned delegates demanded leadership changes. The dispute followed translation failures and dissatisfaction with facilities. The piece notes Nixon's 1971 dollar devaluation.
