United Press International reports funnel clouds and violent weather across Arlington Fairbury Gothenburg and Dorchester in Nebraska. In Arlington high winds of about 90 mph battered a home smashing a bedroom window injuring a boy named Joan. Power lines and trees blocked highways, temporarily isolating the town.

A 24 year old visitor from Louisville Nebraska identified as David F Staples drowned Sunday at one of Maui Hawaii's seven sacred pools. The National Park Service said the accident occurred at 12 40 p m while Staples was in the pool with Marilyn Gillingham of Lahaina. Staples a University of Kansas student had come to the island with a friend to work during the summer.
Nebraska feeders on feed 1,224,000 head as of June 1 1970 down 6 percent from last year and 7 percent from May. May placements 214,000 head up 4 percent from May 1969 and May marketings 302,000 head up 6 percent from a year ago.
Memorial service set for George Syvertsen in Saigon at Queen of Peace Church Saturday at 11 a.m. The American journalist, based in Tokyo, was reported missing in Cambodia and later identified after a jeep explosion. In the Cambodian conflict, twenty six newsmen have been reported missing.
Father Haswell Williams S.5 director of communicative arts at Creighton University in Omaha was named recipient of the Gomez Silver Trophy Kee for 1979. The award, presented by Wilson Sporting Goods Co, was announced at the College World Series by Tom Bowen of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and will be given in January in Houston at the American Association of College Baseball Coaches convention. Williams was cited for promoting a baseball writers contest and his contributions to college baseball.
