Co op seeks to recover taxes from IRS
The Cooperative Grain and Supply Co. of Hoseland, Nebraska, filed in U S District Court to recover 129 478 dollars it says the IRS wrongly charged as back taxes and interest. It paid 338 197 dollars for 1962 to 1972 but was told about 330 080 dollars more. The co op argues it is an exempt farmers cooperative with most capital owned by producers who market through it. It claims patronage refunds were not recognized as taxable, and appeals the IRS decision as unlawful and arbitrary.
