Nebraska will permit Fourth of July fireworks at eleven state recreation areas. Branched Oak Memphis Fremont Louisville Lake Minatare Bridgeport Two Rivers Kearney County Johnson Lake Wagon Train and Pawnee sites will be marked with signs. Fireworks may be set off from 8 a.m. to midnight on July 4 only.
Senator Carl T. Curtis accuses the Army Corps of Engineers of contempt for proposing broad Water Pollution Control Act section 404 regulations. He says the plan would give the agency power to regulate disposal of dredged materials and water bodies nationwide, far beyond statutory authority. Curtis urged the court to view the actions as an attempt to undermine a federal order.
The St. Anne Altar Society will not meet until September. A Wednesday night gathering at the social hall followed a brief business meeting with games and cards for entertainment. Prizes were awarded to Lauretta Muhlman Cecilia Rosenthal and special prizes to Valeria Zoucha Mamie Kuta. Birthday honoree was Faye Krings. Refreshments were served.
