Zimmerman Named Postmaster at Columbus Office
Vernon L. Zimmerman, a 16 year Columbus postal employee and August 1971 assistant postmaster, was named postmaster effective Saturday replacing Marvin Capoun. A Duncan native and Clarks High School 1934 graduate, Zimmerman served in World War II with the 1st Infantry Regiment and later held roles as substitute clerk, carrier, and foreman of mails. He is active in Masons, Lions, American Legion, and Fellowship of Athletes. married to Phyllis with four children Jane Ruth Tom and Karen.
