High court hears power case over Ft Calhoun plant

In Lincoln Nebraska the Nebraska Supreme Court hears a challenge to the Ft Calhoun nuclear project. OPPD and Nebraska Power Review Board dispute who decides future power plant fueling. Costs for the $779.4 million unit rise toward $1 billion as fuel prices are seen climbing.

Seven Columbus and Butler County men charged with felonies

Seven men from Columbus and Butler County were arrested on felony counts for delivering a controlled substance. Names include Joseph Schaefer 19 Clifford Hoeger 19 John Bures 24 David From 18 Robert Prososki 20 Richard Jones 24 and Danny Mais 21. Arraignments occurred in Platte County Court with preliminary hearings set for June 8 for Schaefer Bures From and Prososki. Bond set at 1000 with ten percent allowance.

Local Legion Awards Three Platte College Scholarships

Hartman Post 84 American Legion awards $300 first year scholarships to Platte College to Carol Ernst and Janice Uden. A $100 Legion Auxiliary scholarship goes to Dan Fuchs for Platte College attendance. Carol, Lakeview High School graduate, cheerleader and NHS member, will study engineering. Dan Fuchs is son of Alvin and the late.

Leader for Schmit denies UPI fund source report

Schmit campaign manager Ra Siffring of Rising City disputed a UPI report claiming most of the 25309 raised for the Bellwood legislator came from doctors and feeders. He says funds come from a wide variety of sources including labor farmers businessmen teachers and bankers with outside money from beyond the 23rd District. Jack Eberly of City named as campaign chairman and assistant treasurer.
