Death Rites Held for Mrs Victoria Mortimer in Stanton

Mrs Victoria Mortimer 74 died in a Columbus hospital July 27 and was buried in Stanton Cemetery after funeral services at Schulte Vogel Mortuary. A Stanton native, she taught in Omaha, married George Mortimer in 1919, lived on the Mortimer Ranch and later in Leigh, and resided in Columbus Manor at death. Survivors include a niece, a nephew, and several cousins.

Two-truck crash near North Platte claims several lives

At Interstate 60 east of North Platte a two-truck collision killed Carl C. Stuart age 40 of Mansfield and injured passenger Clifford Glardon 22 of Farmer City. Calvin M. Dressel 48 of Fort Morgan, Colo., escaped injury and was not hospitalized according to Nebraska Patrol.
