Omaha Public Power District OKs up to three non nuclear plants
Lincoln UP L Nebraska Power Review Board authorized Omaha Public Power District to build up to three non nuclear power stations to meet peak summer 1972 demand. Each plant could generate 50 megawatts, total 150 MW, costing about 17.9 million dollars. Locations include North Omaha, South Omaha, and Sarpy County. If 50 MW from Bureau of Reclamation purchase is secured, only two plants may be built. Construction planned late 1971, full operation by May 1972, delayed nuclear plant near Fort Calhoun now not due until Jan 1973.
