Farmers to report 1977 crop acreage for 1978 set aside

Schuyler Colfax county farmers must report planted acreage of 1977 crops to the ASCS by Sept. 1. Proposed farm legislation could require a 1978 set aside based on a percentage of 1977 harvest acreage. Reported acreage will not determine 1978 allotments, but aids the Secretary of Agriculture in options if set aside is needed. Those who planted wheat corn sorghum barley must report or risk ineligibility for 1978 benefits.
