(Limited coherence) A UPI report cites direct selling executives outlining fraud markers in pyramid schemes. Key signs include large unrecoverable upfront investments, emphasis on recruiting profits over product sales, lack of tangible assets, vague guarantees, and no promise of riches. The piece notes Amway's Richard DeVos warning buyers to be cautious of such promotions.

Light bank failures cited by Dr Gambs in Monthly Review
Dr Curt M Gambs says the decline in bank failures since World War II reflects stronger economy and FDIC support. He notes 1975 76 failures were high but total banks failing remained small and no $100 million deposits failed postwar. He attributes 1975 76 rise to recession and expects 1977 failures to fall, not indicate systemic weakness.
