Cataract Removed In Jerusalem Meir Undergoes Eye Surgery

NEW YORK AP stock market midday prices show varied gains and losses across major issues. Golda Meir, 76, former Israeli prime minister, underwent cataract surgery on her left eye at Hadassah Hospital and is expected to remain hospitalized for four to five days. Panel discussion to be held Sunday in Schuyler

A panel discussion for parents of all high school and junior high students is planned Sunday at 7 30 p m at the Knights of Columbus Hall Schuyler. Participants include Central High School Principal Hert Snyder Irvin Martens Dr Merlin Sucha Alex Bideaus Colfax County Attorney Larry Karel and Rev Willis Taplin.

Natural disaster loans offered for Platte and Nance farmers

The U S Department of Agriculture announces emergency loans through the Farmers Home Administration for Platte and Nance county farmers suffering crop losses and destroyed feed grain from adverse weather since June 1 1974 through Oct 41 1974. Applications for production losses are due by Oct 7 1975. Loans bear interest and are repaid in full. County Supervisor William T McCubbin of Columbus says to contact the local FmHA Office at 2204 14th Street Columbus or Fullerton in the Federal Building Tuesday afternoons for more information.

Farmers urged to meet disaster credit deadline

Dick James of the Platte County ASCS office warns that January 31 is the final day to file disaster credit applications for 1974 crops. He notes 2,048 applications already accepted and requires proof of production by February 26 to proceed. Producers who filed but not completed after harvest reports are urged to visit the ASCS office promptly.

Three mishaps were reported with no injuries. Last Friday in police parking area involved William Brandenburgh and Richard Mason’s pickup causing $75 damage. Thursday incidents included Albert Dolezal and Paul Ott with minor damage at 12th Street 25th Avenue and Louis Stepanek with Jack Mherhart at 14th Street 13th Avenue. County Court fines listed for multiple offenses. Will Appeal for Wally Gnatinfson after 30 days jail. Platte County accident at Wagner Lakes with Dorothy Vanes and Kurt Nyffeler caused $400 damage. Volunteers Needed for Butler County Hospital Sewing Project

American Legion Auxiliary Kregger Unit 125 of David City Nebraska met at the Legion Club on Mayday evening. Community Service chairman Mrs Weldon Duer announced volunteers are needed to aid the annual hospital sewing project to be carried out January and February. The unit voted to contribute to the carillon bells project at Ft McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell Nebraska. Mrs C E Baker gave a program on Proper Parliamentary Procedure emphasizing recognition of special guests at meetings and banquets. Hostesses for the February meeting were named. Americanism Chairman Mrs Stella Farnham will present the program.

Fullerton Lions Club to drop annual high school banquet

At a January 14 meeting the Fullerton Lions Club voted to discontinue sponsoring the annual high school athletic banquet due to cost. The club will redirect funds from its only remaining fund-raiser, the Christmas tree sale, toward community improvements. The Lions previously sponsored street marker projects and will continue to support the annual talent contest by outside firms.

Mrs. Kimble to Speak at Fullerton Eagles Auxiliary Event

Mrs. Orville Kimble of Edward will be guest speaker at an Auxiliary session in Fullerton. Eagles and Auxiliary members from Columbus Superior Grand Ishimi Hastings Kearney and Fullerton will attend. The Grand Island Auxiliary conducts initiation. The Gra Island ritual team will perform initiation ceremonies. A joint banquet and dance follow at 6 30 p.m.

Arends Elected Chairman at Bodie County Meeting

At the Bodie County reorganization, Conrad Arends was elected chairman of the Board of Commissioners with Jim Tisthammer as co-chairman and Jim Vandewalle chosen as chairman of the county assistance committee. Health board members named include Sheriff Dick Johnson Dr Charles Sweet and County Superintendent Jte Matrisciano. The budget committee will include Tisthammer Vandewalle and Arends. A motion approved hiring an experienced public accountant to prepare the 1975 76 budget. County policy to rent out equipment remains in effect. Next meeting set for Feb 4.
