Nebraska farm real estate values rose sharply in 1974 with the average price surpassing 248 per acre. Dr. Maurice Baker of the University of Nebraska notes 26 percent gain in the year ending March 1, 1974, and at least 15 percent since then, driven by high farm incomes and inflation. He predicts continued gains into 1975, with inflation attracting investors to farm real estate as a hedge.
