Mullen launches $6000 drive to recruit doctor

Residents of Mullen Nebraska have started a $6000 drive to bring a physician to the western Nebraska community. Charles Patch, chair of the health planning committee, outlined options including a $4000 first year bonus and possible aid to a medical recruiting organization to fill the clinic.

Vandals Trigger Fire At Abandoned Hawthorne School

Fire officials theorize vandals broke into Hawthorne Elementary in south Omaha Sunday night and started a blaze that extensively damaged the vacant building. Entry was gained by breaking a window. Firemen controlled the fire in about an hour. the school has been vacant since January after students moved to Spring Lake.
