Carson to move Tonight show to California in spring
NBC confirms Johnny Carson will relocate the Tonight show from New York to Southern California in spring. The program will originate from the NBC-TV studio complex in Burbank with first West Coast broadcast on May 1. Carson will make periodic New York visits, while Cavett remains in New York for his program. A two hour NBC special ballet on March 12 will be hosted by Gene Kelly.
