Livestock and Feed Lost in Schuyler Barn Fire
A midnight blaze destroyed a hedge barn near Schuyler, damaging about 100 by 35 feet. Four cattle and a calf perished, along with 40 straw bales and 60 prairie hay bales. A 34 year old Kansas man, Margin Po Marcatie, died in a truck crash northwest of Ansley. His northbound vehicle went into a ditch, crossed the highway, and struck the ditch on the opposite side, state patrol reported.

Lincoln lawmakers give preliminary approval to a 107 percent budget with ample amendments. The vote followed hours of debate as amendments reallocate unspent Roads funds for recreation, fund overtime for the State Patrol, and add 266 832 to the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
