Evansville Aces dream ends in plane crash tragedy
Evansville Indiana woke to shock as the Evansville Aces basketball program, a longtime Division I power, suffered a fatal plane crash en route to Nashville to face Middle Tennessee. Coach Bobby Watson, 44, and eight newcomers were aboard the charter, which went down in fog after takeoff, bursting into flames. Watson had just begun rebuilding the program after taking over from Brad McCutcheon, who previously led the Aces to multiple titles in the late 1950s to early 1970s.
