Warm air spreads over Nebraska with mild midweek highs

A high pressure system over Kentucky sent a warm southerly flow into Nebraska. Skies were partly cloudy with midday readings in the 40s and 50s. Highs Wednesday ranged from 52 at Norfolk to 62 at North Platte, with overnight lows from 23 to 40. Winds under 10 mph as weather outlook calls for lingering mild conditions through Friday.

Area farmers rally for nationwide strike action

About 60 tractors pickups and other farm machines gathered on main street of a small community to join a nationwide farmers strike. Farmers voiced frustration over low prices and urged support for farmers and price relief as a parade of equipment moved through town and speakers urged action.

Historical Society acquires Third Ward School deed in Platte County

Platte County Historical Society members received the deed for the Third Ward Lincoln School from Columbus School Board president William Redrow. The transfer marks over a century since the east third changed hands, with plans to display the original school plans and artifacts in the museum and to launch a multi-phase fund drive for the new museum site.
