Former FBI official Felt says he refused White House order to soften memo
W. Mark Felt former FBI associate director says he rejected requests to soften the Dita Beard memorandum during Nixon era. He cites John Dean asking for softer wording on ITT related memo and notes he approved warrantless breakins amid Weather Underground arson threats. He argues FBI action was to curb bombings, not vindicate wrongdoing.
