Mount Cassino and Dachau visit stir wartime recollections
Odell Hanson reports from Lincoln on a trip that blends a serene Mount Cassino abbey scene with stark reminders of Dachau. He notes Benedictine roots atop the hill, 1944 destruction and total restoration, and contrasts with Nazi camp memories. He recalls Italian guides, Rome traffic, and a wary encounter with a Yugoslav refugee asking for aid.
